In March 1999, we took over a long-established veterinary practice from a retiring vet and named it.
Animal Choice, the intention being that animals would prefer to choose us.
We grew quietly, through trust and word of mouth.
One family told another.

Mr. Anurag Phakkey BVM, MSc and MRCVS
Anurag Phakkey MRCVS – Senior Veterinary Surgeon & Practice Owner
Anurag has been caring for companion animals for over 35 years. He leads the practice with a calm, thoughtful approach and a strong focus on gentle handling, preventative care, and clear communication. He enjoys all aspects of general practice, including routine dentistry, and believes in keeping pets comfortable and healthy through good everyday care

Natalia MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon
Natalia graduated from the University of Warmia and Mazury in Poland. She has a strong interest in orthopaedics, diagnostic imaging, and dermatology, and is known for her gentle, patient manner with nervous pets.
Visiting Clinician
Dr Robert Janiak - Visiting Advanced Practitioner (Cardiology & Ultrasound)
Dr Janiak visits our practice to provide advanced cardiac and ultrasound diagnostics. He works closely with our team to support pets who need detailed imaging or heart assessments. (He is not based at the practice full-time.)

Louise has been with Animal Choice since 2010 and plays a dual role as RVN and practice manager. Her calm leadership, clinical skill, and steady presence help keep everything running smoothly for pets, clients, and staff.
Tessa RVN
Tessa - Registered Veterinary Nurse
Tessa joined Animal Choice in 2020 and brings experience from both referral and first-opinion emergency practice. She enjoys caring for patients and supporting clients through every stage of their pet’s visit.

Keely supports patient care, monitoring, and clinical procedures. Her gentle, steady approach is a valued part of how we look after pets so well.

Jurgen – Nursing Assistant
